Anna has always had an avid interest in the human body and currently works as a paramedic, having completed a bachelor’s degree in Nursing and Paramedicine in 2017. As a teenager, Anna was obsessed with running, pounding the streets around her home daily and competing in cross-country events. With no prehab or soft-body work, lo and behold, injuries developed. So an osteopath recommended trying yoga. Anna went along to a class and was shocked with her struggle to get into many of the basic postures. Accepting the challenge, she threw herself into the yoga world, trying the many different styles and developing a love for both the physical practice and meditation along the way. Soon a passion was kindled and, through consistent practice, she radically improved her flexibility and learned how to listen to the sensations in her body.
Anna felt frustrated, however, with the lack of a structured approach to strength development in yoga. In search of a more methodical approach and feeling drawn to the community, she started training at Praksis and joined our practitioner program in 2018.
In recent years, Anna has been enjoying the benefits of a wide-ranging movement practice, incorporating strength training, mobility, yoga, swimming, running, climbing and creative movement into her practice. With her love for yoga still raging and wanting to share what she had gained, she completed her teacher training in 2019 and began teaching yoga classes in Canberra. Anna is passionate about helping others use movement to achieve capable and injury-free bodies. She joined our teaching team in winter 2021.
